The cottage is situated in beautiful Raydale, a secluded and unspoilt area of Wensleydale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is surrounded by traditional farming country and ringed by high fells. In the distance the dramatic peak of Addleborough can be seen and Semerwater with it's beach for swimming off is a pleasant walk away. It is handy for many of the areas famous attractions, including the bustling little market town of Hawes, Semerwater, Aysgarth Falls and the pretty villages of Bainbridge & Askrigg, its pub previously used as the local in the James Herriot series All Creatures Great & Small.
Raydale is a haven for wildlife, with hares & deer often sighted in the surrounding fields at dawn and dusk, along with a wide variety of upland bird life including pheasant, partridge, curlew, duck etc.
The hamlet of Marsett is set high in the hills above Bainbridge providing far reaching panoramic views of the dales and fells beyond. Marsett itself has true rustic country charm as cattle and sheep can roam freely on the village green.
Fell Cottage is wonderfully presented to meet your holiday needs, whatever the time of year you decide to visit, you will always have a warm welcome snuggled up on the leather reclining settees with the wood burning stove providing a true ‘winter wonderland’ feeling.
Even the access to the cottage during those colder winter months is always kept accessible so that the milk truck can make its daily pick-up from farms in the area.
There are many tourist attractions in the area, the nearest being lake Semerwater only a mile along the road, Bainbridge is 3 miles, Askrigg 5 miles, Hawes 5 miles as well as the famous Aysgarth Falls, Castle Bolton.
This area is a paradise for walkers and mountain biking is very enjoyable along the quiet roads that surround the hamlet.
Please note that due to the cottage cleaning & maintenance procedures we cannot accept arrivals before 4.00pm and all departures must be no later than 10.00am Thank You.
We know that your pets are an important part of your family, therefore well behaved pets are more than welcome at our cottage for a small charge, (maximum of 2), especially as the cottage has a private enclosed garden making it dog friendly.
However please be aware that future guests and their children may not be pet owners so provision must be made by you to clean up after them, also noting that they and children cannot be left unattended in the cottage at anytime.
Please note that whilst the Dales have numerous public footpaths for you to enjoy, your dogs must be kept on a lead where there is roaming livestock, so please do your best to support the country code, (leads on your children are not necessary - unless of course you know different!).
Dogs must be supervised at all times and dealt with if causing an annoyance to others.
We reserve the right to refuse entry to the cottage, (without refund), regardless of breed if we consider the dog likely to cause annoyance, damage or in our opinion be a potential danger to others.
We do not accept breeds/crossbreeds as listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.
